How It All Began:
Dru and I were part of the same friend circle since 2019, but we barely went beyond “Hey!” and “Hi!” —basically, just enough to acknowledge each other’s existence. Fast forward to one day (I can't say when hehe), and suddenly, we were talking nonstop, day and night.
Just as things started getting serious, we hit a couple of bumps and nearly broke up—not once, not twice, but three times. (Let’s call those our “character-building” moments.) But thankfully, we got the break-up attempts out of our system early on!
After surviving the “great nearly break-ups”, we knew we were in it for the long haul. So, we made it official and powered through two years of long-distance love, complete with endless video calls and far too many airport goodbyes. Finally, we made it to where we are now—under one roof and planning the next adventure!
We started off as friends, hanging out with the crew, exploring Saigon, and making unforgettable memories. Slowly, we began spending more time together—it was apparent we had chemistry. Cathy is the pun queen, always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh with her witty commentary.
It took us some time to act on our chemistry. We had a few one-on-one hangouts (not officially dates yet), and I’d be turning up the charm, but it felt like I was talking to a wall sometimes. In social settings, she was hilarious, but with us, it took sometime to find our rhythm. Despite the ups and downs and for whatever reason we kept finding reasons to keep trying.
After a break and a few months apart, I thought I had moved on. But when I returned to Vietnam after my trip to the US, we started hanging out again, and the chemistry was still there. We decided to give it another go. I moved to Hanoi, and though long-distance was tough, we made it work.
When she agreed to move to Nha Trang with me, it was a huge sacrifice, and I’ll always appreciate her for that. Now, I’m excited for everything ahead of us—for all the adventures, the family we’ll build, and the endless puns still to come.
